The idea of the term “double portion” is found throughout scripture. Most famously, it is revealed in the story of the relationship between Elijah and Elisha. Elijah said unto Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.” 2nd Kings 2:9 It’s about fatherhood and sonship. It’s about mentorship and servanthood. It’s about taking aim and finishing strong. It is transferring wisdom, It is transmitting knowledge, It is gleaning understanding for the coming generations. It is inheritance, heritage, and legacy not being squandered. It is protecting what God has given until the next generation grabs hold of it. It is entrusting what has been gained into the hands of the less experienced but 
 carefully guided. These values are the heart of everything Double Portion Ministries does.
